Cruising
What is Cruising?
Cruising with TTPYC is a leisurely activity that involves traveling on a sail or power boat—or driving—to a common destination with other club members. Club cruises generally take place over a three-day weekend where participants get together for cocktails, coffee, festivities and meals. There is also plenty of time for exploring the destination's shopping, educational and outdoor amenities.
Who can Cruise?
Any TTPYC member can cruise. It doesn't even require you own a boat! Some members participate in the weekend activities by car, or join a crew of another member's boat.
Club boat owners are also welcome to bring guests.
When do we Cruise?
We generally organize one cruise per month during the favorable weather months of the year in the PNW—March through September—with the exception of July and August. This is when many club members are off on their own extended cruises.
Where do we Cruise?
Our cruising destinations are generally within a few hours of the Des Moines Marina, giving everyone time to get tied up and ready for the Friday afternoon festivities, and to get back home by the end of the day Sunday.
Many of our favorites include Blake Island, Arabella's Landing in Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, Longbranch, Bell Harbor in downtown Seattle, and Poulsbo.
Why Cruise?
Cruising can be a great way to meet other club members and share a passion for boating. Cruising is also an excellent way to spend time in other areas of the Puget Sound in somewhat of a travel-agent pre-planned mini vacation with friends.
If you are new to cruising, it is the best way to gain cruising experience—in the safety and experience of long-time cruisers.
How does a Cruise get organized?
This is where club member participation is at its best!

Each cruise destination is picked by club members who volunteer to host a cruise. They reserve the slips at the destination marina, plan the events, research things to do in the area, and organize meals and beverages.

As there are around 5 to 6 cruises each year, it takes a village (or a club) to make all of the cruises happen. To volunteer to host a cruise, please contact the Fleet Captain – Cruise, whose contact information can be found in the TTPYC Membership Roster.
